I bought a new PC with windows 7 Home Premium on it. An online source suggested installing HP Solution Center as a way to to deal with this scanner software conflict. That' s the only way to get the scanner at work with the full HP program . You cannot hold on to it forever.

They are no longer capable of the simplist things. In most cases VueScan doesn't need a driver from HP. Instead of IrfanView, I used the software VueScan and everything works fine. (or, if someone wants to follow Costin's instructions, in IrfanView, when you go to File, Select TWAIN SOURCE, click It's the case with my 4470c and one can find confirmation on ViewScan' s site .
